Bianca Herrera

Masters, Intern

I believe in each person’s ability to be the best they can be. I understand how systemic and generational traumas impact a person and I believe that we can find healing and joy in community with each other. By creating spaces where people feel seen and can move through conflict safely, I know that people can find healing and live meaningful lives, even within the context of our current world. I know that we can create a better world together, and it starts with our relationship to ourselves and to our communities around us.

In my work with clients, I may explore generational wounds, personal identities and context in the world, and the mind-body connection. I approach my work from a trauma-informed lens and am inspired by person-centered theory. I seek to build an authentic working relationship with my clients that is based in compassionate and affirming honesty. I am interested in helping people work through relational, family, and/or systemic trauma. I am also interested in helping people make sense of multiple truths in regards to conflicting social identities, coming to terms with harm they caused or complex grief.

I have experience working as a Sexual Assault Intervention advocate and case manager, a college and career coach with Latinx adolescents and young adults, and as a social worker with toddlers and their families. I’ve been told by those that I have worked with or alongside that I am good at finding people’s strengths, creating a soothing environment, helping people feel seen, and inspiring action/change.

I am empathetic, humorous, very honest, and generally see beauty in each person. I am a very spiritual person, though I do not subscribe to one organized religion. I am open to working with people of different faiths if they are comfortable. I am bilingual and bicultural; with roots in Mexico and my second native language being Spanish. I love music and art and may make references where appropriate. If this aligns with your vision for your healing, then let’s get started!
